The plaque on this Grandfather clock made by Simon Bro. & Co. of Philadelphia commemorates the retirement of Edwin S. Stuart, the Mayor of Philadelphia, in 1895. He later became the governor of Pennsylvania. I repaired it for his greatgrandson. The clock stands 8 feet high, is made of oak and carved in the Federalist Style with swags, cherubs, and fluted Corinthian columns. There is a choice of Westminster chimes or bells that strike out the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and hour and it gongs out the hours. It also has a moon phase above the dial.
